5th gear position switch

90 se automatic car with a 95 5spd transmission... one plug on the modified transmission harness, s13 harness with an s14harness, won't plug into the car... its the 5th gear position switch wire. do I need this plugged into my computer so that it won't trip a code? If so is there an easier way than running a wire directly into the pooter... like can I plug it into the engine harness anywhere? Really need some help here I've owned my car for over a year and haven't been able to drive it.

I don't believe it's necessary for it to be plugged in.
