Hi Madcow,I'm getting ready to do my swap and wanted to ask you a few questions regarding the "parts list". I do not have any salvage yards in the area, so having as many of the parts (if not all the parts) on hand to do this swap. I will be also installing my SR at the same time (which actually seems easier than the swap - with all the stuff for the convertible switches and all). I have a question regarding the cross member. I have one coming from a source and they said that it looks like a bunch of tubes that hold the carrier bearing on the short driveshaft in place. Is this correct? So far I have the clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, the clutch hard line, the clutch pedal assembly, will have the clutch flex line, lower transmission boot. I have not determined the upper boot yet cause I haven't decided on the interior color. Can you think of anything that held you up for me to look out for? Any help anyone can provide would be great. The motor/transmission is the only thing holding me back from going to NOPI with the car in ATL this year. Thanks everyone. NICO members seem to be the best with this kind of stuff.

i noticed that you dont have a brake pedal if you dont have one you will need to cut yours in half ( which is easyer and faster then putting one in). thats great that you have a 5spd sr because to get under the car and mess around taking off the transmission is a pain in the rear end. as far as the crossmember which one are you talking about? the transmission cross member?

Madcow, yes the transmission cross member... i found one from someone i knew in Canada and he is shipping what he thinks I'm looking for..I'm not sure what it looks like or how it differs from the one in the auto... I read it on here and it was what was posted as a need to have item...yes i plan on cutting the brake pedal (hell yes it seems easier) I'm just gonna put different pedals on them anyway..I did notice some wires that were attached to the clutch pedal assembly that I got .. was thinking they were for a ground of some sort??? any insight on that one? two wires leading up into the dash of the junkyard car...also do you know if the HUD is worth trying to put in .. junkyard car had that as well...thanks for the help...

i would put the hud but you have to put the whole harnnes and tint a littel square on you window where it would project the mph. the diffrence between the cross members is that one is taller then the other.. and those wires on the pedal are for a clucth sensor so that you can turn the car on without pressing the clucth you wont need it..

The HUD seems like it may be a bit of a pain in the rear for little bang... this junkyard you have to pull the stuff yourself. pulling out the dash twice doesn't seem too appealing in mid June in SC ..lol... it's either 100 degrees and sunny or a hurricane/tornado... gotta love the beach tho..Anyhow thanks for the reply on the crossmember and clutch info... I am looking to start the swap by month end... just prepping the engine and gathering parts to make this happen ..when it happens.. thanks again.. hope to meet everyone at NOPI in ATL in Sept...
