Well the ole 2slowty is a 5spd now. I love it so much! But there are problems. Lets see, where should I start. I'll start small....The brake pedal I got from a 5spd 240 didnt' fit (from an s13, it shoulda fit I thought), so the guy that did the swap just trimmed my auto pedal down. No biggie, but, it is the first of many. Next, my windows and sunroof dont work at all now, when before I left the car with the guy to do the swap, they worked fine. I think they are unplugged somewhere, somehow, for some reason. Next, The transmission I got is broke, so I have a friends (cnichols on the boards) transmission in my car (he had an extra one). But I think my transmission can be fixed rather easily, because of a type of fork thing that could be broke inside the transmission. So the guy is gonna open the transmission up for 40 bucks and look and see. If it is just the fork thing, then he can fix it, and I can put that transmission in my car and give Chris' back to him. Next, the speed sensor that I got with my transmission doesn't fit this one, and the one with this one is broken. So I have no speedo, therefore the mileage isn't going up. So if I get my transmission fixed though, I will get the speedo and odometer back. Last, the driveshaft is too long. It works, but The end of the shaft that goes into the input part of the end of the transmission, has a piece that rubs, which will make one of two things happen. One, it keeps rubbing, making a whining noise, and rubs until it just wheres down and there will be no more noise. Two, it breaks the rear seal of the transmission, causing transmission fluid leak.

I know that was very long, but there were lots of problems (well, still are), so I figured I'd share. Its good to be back on NICO though, after a week not being on. I was out of town, so it is good to be back.

It kicks arse right now, seeing as how it runs and shifts great! Its just alot of rather small stuff that I will have to get fixed. The draveshaft problem isn't small, but it will eventually work out somehow. It has still all been worth it to me, so dont let this discourage you. I have reverse lights and everything by the way. That is also a plus.

Dam that sucks, after I did my 5-speed swap i didn't have any problems. Glad to see its a 5-speed now. Also that whole windows thing might be a fuse or relay. Also I have all parts to do a 5-speed conversion. I'm thinking of charging 900 to do it with parts included. Nick

I checked the fuses. They are fine. I am gonna call the guy and just ask if there is some place he just unplugged the crap for some reason. If that is the case, then I will just fix it myself. If not, I am gonna have him do it. He still has my other transmission anyway, so I am going to have to go to the shop again anyways. He actually still has all of my auto transmission stuff too. Hmm, gonna have to snag the ole Chevy from dad....

Alot. The guy that put it in is a Nissan Master Tech though, so I know it got done as right as it could have. And I know any problems I have, he will fix. I have reverse lights and everything also, which is cool.

The brake pedals for the S13 and S14 are two different part numbers. Same with the clutch pedal assemblies.

I can't think of *anything* that relates the power windows with the transmission. Not sure what he did there....

The automatic and manual driveshafts are also two different part numbers. I would try to source a manual driveshaft.

My s13 came stock with a 5 speed, about the only option it has, although the 5 speed wasn't an option, it was standard, most people consider it an option in most cars anymore.

yea, its a shame how many automatics over manuals are being sold. it makes it hard for ppl like us to source a used car that has a manual

I'm just starting my 5speed conversion, hopefully will not have these problems. I still do have to find a manual driveshaft or get a shop here to short the auto one. Good luck on everything.

Thats the problem, this IS a manual driveshaft. From an s14 base model 5spd, which means no ABS or anything, which is the exact shaft I needed, heh. But it is still screwed up.

I dont know why I would need a driveshaft out of a 240 w/ abs, cause mine doesn't have it. This driveshaft should work perfectly. This pisses me off. I mean I'm not mad at any of this really cause I expected it, but I am getting tired of having no luck at all, ever.

the reason i suggested the driveshaft from a 240 w/ abs is because the 240s with abs had a little sensor on the end of the LSD which made the driveshaft slightly shorter.

I hate autos.. I drove my moms protege recently (haven't driven auto for a LONG time).. autos seem like they can never make up their mind, and the car handled like crap.. probably because it's FWD and I'm used to throwing the 240sx into turns.. but I heard alot of positive reviews on the protege and praising the handling. Not impressive compared to the 240sx. I love being able to get on the gas when a turn opens up, what a rush only in RWD, and probably AWD.. haven't driven one of those yet. Pathfinder doesnt count because it's 4000lbs+ and I wouldn't dare take an SUV into a turn at speed.

I'm not saying the protege is a bad car, because before I experienced a 240sx I was considering one and remember test driving it. Handling was what I liked the most about the protege, that light feeling. After that recent test drive though, I'm probably so used to the 240sx's characteristices that I wasn't driving the protege right, and the first protege I drove was stick so that's always a plus, I guess autos aren't as fun in turns.

Yes, auto's suck. Well, not always, but for my wants and needs, it sucked.

Books13, I said up above that it costed alot, but if you want a dollar amount, it was 600. This was paying a certified Nissan Master Tech to do the swap, mind you.

This kinda not related to this topic, but my car was an auto too before I did my SR swap. I just replaced the sr speed sensor to the 89 240's and did the wiring. It turned out my speedometer is doing double the speed i'm going. It's like i'm going 30 mph, it shows 60 mph. Does anyone in here have an idea of why it does that?

Yea they said I also had to get one of your "clips" or something as they referred to it as. The only thing I could think of was your crossmember. You rule :thumbup
