5ft+ fireballs from a ka..why...?

well i scorched my buddys paint coming down hwy 78 tonight..finally got through break in on the motor. i decided to get on it some and show my buddy with the s14 whats up,well it turns out my car shoots fireballs like a mug..shot one so huge it there was a black score mark on my chris's bumper from where he was behind me..the car is running off a downpipe..anybody know why it shoots such massive fireballs..the car seems to run great..and not rich,doesn't miss.. used to in my old auto shell is this a bad thing? and the car is bad ***...s14 did nothing but lose ground untill i let up 125ish or so..stupid 110 speedo(don't flame,if u do i'm ready..my cars does enough flaming for this whole board..lol..me and chris do the speed limit,was just in a bad mood and wanted to drive)

your running an open down pipe and shot 5ft flame? so car +5ft = 10ft+ flames in total?

either way flames are excess unburnt fuel....... or you are driving an RX7

i got pulled over the other day.. the cop told me their were flames coming out my exhaust and then i shot i fireball and she pulled me over

are you sure its not rich when it blows flames ? it only takes a split second for a car to go from lean to rich, so during shifts you COULD be dumping raw fuel out the exhaust

a friends turbo sho was 12:1 under boost, stoich under light load, lean on cruise, but dumped massive amounts of fuel when free reving, which i was able to light w/ a lighter causing 7+ foot flames

depends on the situation, a stoich mixture that doesnt combust properly might have the flame start at the exhaust valve (like if the timing is way off) in which case it would be a 10 foot flame, but a rich mix wont blow flames until the exhaust hits atmosphere and mixes, giving it the oxygen it needs to burn
