I am trying to find out if there is a solution for my remote starter not working when it is very cold out (under 20 degs). (I dont want to use the timer option)

Basically even if it is very cold out, when I get in my car it will start. A quick press of the start button will work, even though the engine takes a while to turn over.

Howver, when it is very cold and I try to do a remote start, the engine attempts to turn over, fails, and retries about 15 seconds later.

Is there some sort of firmware fix that will have the remote starter "try" a little harder before assuming it cant start the car ?

I wasnt able to find anything usefull on thier web site, and I want to have some knowledge before I bring it to the dealer.

Thanks

There are a number of things that can cause your car not to remote start, but what it sounds like is you should go back to the place where you got it installed. They can fix it in under 10 mins it is just a programming thing. You see remote car starters check to see if your car is running in a few different ways, if it is set to. Frist you have Tach, in general the most reliable. This is where the RS is hooked up your tach wire or an injector or a coil and the RS reads the AC current once your engine is running and stops the cranking. Next you have a Voltage check, this works by the RS reading the change in voltage, when your car sarts the volts go from 12 from your battery to ~14 when running. Now some cars just dont work with the first 2 options and you have to set the RS to a crank time and this is different for every car and varries with temp as it takes your car longer to turn over when its cold. Just bring it back to them and have them adjust the crank time or relearn the tach or voltage reading, what every it is set to.
