for those that don't know what paracord is, it's used for parachutes.

basically, it's about the width of boot laces but incredibly strong.

anyway, right now I'm trying my first attempt at weaving a survival bracelet.

hopefully, the finished product will look like something like this.

mine's gonna be two colors and have a monkey's fist knot for a means of fastening it.

kinda like this one.http://www.instructables.com/i...utton/

550 cord is awsome. It fixes just about everything on deployment haha. If you gut it wouldn't it lose its strength though? And what kind of clasp is that?

not really sure what it is...that's just a picture I hotlinked for an example.

you can get all kinds of different clasps on ebay or at arts and crafts stores. I just used a simple knot and loop clasp on my first attempt.

it's a good way to waste time I've discovered...I might attempt a necklace out of it.

I'm going to attempt this. Going to use a snap buckle as the closure thought. *crosses fingers*

Just FYI, I believe that is a common D-ring you can buy at any hardware store. Working load for that thing is probably 500lbs. I use similar sized ones to connect loops of chain when pulling an engine.

fair enough.

to be fair, I don't want something supporting that much weight around my wrist.

it'd be nice to have it break if I get hung on something

better the closure than my arm to break.

btw, I got that weave down pat and honestly, mine looks like it's even tighter...

I haven't messed with it in over a month though...I need to figure out some of the more complex stuff.
