You may also want to consider going with 6000K or lower. You're 8000K will be a bit blue.

Nice! I was also wondering this too. Maybe the results vary. I almost bought some HIDs at a car meet and the sales guy told me that 55k melts things.

isn't our cars wired for 35w? i would think it would be a problem, 55w bulbs draw more amperage then the headlight circuit is designed for. that is why people say it screws up their lights.

White all the way! Or white with ever so slight tint of blue. I'll be going with 6000k whenever I decide to buy mine. Almost bought some from DDM but I've read so many mixed reviews. I like that they offer lifetime warranty but removing them each time and putting them in again over and over again sounds like a hassle. I also have read that they cause radio interference. I'm assuming cause they're not full digital? Anyone else experience this?

i run 8k 55watts. I havent seen any issues with melting my headlights. My 3ohm resistors sitting next to the ballast are scorching hot too and everything is alright. I think it's just a myth.

See this is what worries me. I don't need a fire starting I have enough wires hahaa I don't think I need one of em lightin up in a burst of flames. But no lie my old set of HID's were sick 8k I believe 35watt but not sure but they used to get real hot to and would flicker on or off depending what they felt like hahaha

i always heard that 55w bulbs would melt the fogs. also, if it's a 55k kit, then 8k would look more like a 35w 6k.

I think of it this way...

Would you ever run a 1 OHM sub on an amp rated at 4 OHMs? Nope...
Of course you could, and it might work for a while, but in the long run it is causing damage and will fail sooner or later.

Before I get flamed, I know resistance vs wattage not the same thing. But in my mind same concept, same reason NOT to do it.
