It's a horrifyingly pathetic commentary on the average driver's abilities that a car with the ability to park itself is a big deal.
I never understood what was so difficult about parallel parking. And I certainly would not trust my car to park itself better than I can. I'd spend the whole duration of the auto-park cringing in anticipation of the numerous horrific outcomes.
And the complexity of using the system FAR outstrips the complexity of parking the damn car yourself.
Tell me this:if your car hits another car in this mode, are you still at fault? If my car goes stupid, I sure as hell don't want to incur increased insurance premiums. Will Ford cover that?
This system (and the Lexus one) add tons of new potential negatives to what is a very simple thing.
The only parallel parking "assist" I want is my auto tilt-down mirrors.
Oh, also, I can't be bothered to care about a FWD V6 Lincoln. Sorry.
