521 engine identification

I am new to datsun trucks, I just bought a 72 521, the engine appears to be newer that a 72. it is definetly a L series engine. I cant't find any casting #'s for identifying it. The VIN doesn't help.

well there's suppose to be the number on the bottom left side of the head..juss like one inch below it..there's suppose to be something like L16 or L18 it all depends on what engine u have..

Thanks, I found it. It is on the r/h side under the #4spark plug. It is a L18.
