Hi,
Just bought a '67 520 from Oregon, and it's on the ship heading over here (Hawaii). Pretty excited about it! It does have a carburetor flooding problem though. I got hold of a rebuild kit for the stock Nikki it has. Dang, there's a lot of tiny parts in there - I've never done a carb rebuild before. Going to take my time and attempt the rebuild, but I'm considering getting a Weber 32/36 to put in so that I can get it running sooner. So, is there any company that makes an adapter for mounting the Weber on the stock J13 manifold?
I'll post some pics once the truck arrives.

it appears that they only make them for the L and Z series motors

I beleive that on of the british cars is close to the same intake manifold. You might try calling Peirce Manifolds in CA.

PIERCE MANIFOLDS, INC.

Mon.-Fri. 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. PST -8GMT
(closed 12-1 for lunch)
Sales: 1-800-874-3728 Tech: 1-408-842-6667

They might be able to help, good people to deal with.

Thanks for the compliments. Zed1, here are some more pics per your request. Charlie, notice I put in the Weber32/36 already. Found a posting on Ratsun site (sorry, is it ok to mention here?) where someone suggested adapter available from JAM Engineering Corp. Bought a new 32/36DGV, the adapter (part 99004.300), universal DGV linkage, tall air filter (part 99217.332S), and universal choke cable all for roughly $350. To install, had to remove 2 original intake man studs, and replace the other 2 with longer ones (5/16" coarse about 2" long) to account for added adapter plate. Shortened and ground heads smaller on 2 hex head 5/16" coarse bolts to sink below the top plane of adapter plate - there were two bolts supplied with the adapter kit for this, but they didn't thread nicely into the intake mani - probably they were metric. I jury rigged a bell crank mech for the throttle, because the cable was aimed from the firewall pretty much straight to the throttle plate. And the way the carb bolts to the mani, the throttle plate pivots 90 degrees in relation to the cable pull direction. Found the stock cable a little too short, so made one from 1/16" steel cable and a crimp-on cable stop from Lowe's. The bell crank setup works fairly smooth, and doesn't bind - at least not yet. I'm thinking that I will change it out soon though, and go with making a long cable with sheath, just looped out and then back toward the carb - less likely to fail...

Beautiful Truck.

As far as the throttle cable goes take the old original cable to a motocycle repair shop after measuring how much longer you need it to be. The shop should be able to use parts from your old cale and make you a new cable that is longer with the correct barrles on the ends. This also works for hood release cables.

I have a 68 and would like to know if the intake adapter is the same for my truck. I would assumes so, but don't want to spend $$ on assumptions!

I would also be interested in your rebuild kit if you aren't going to use it. Of course shipping from Hawaii might be a bit pricey. Let me know.

Hey Dave, I'm going to keep the kit to rebuild the orig carburetor if anything to get the experience of doing it and to have it as a spare in case. Besides, if you have a 68 you may have a Hitachi instead of a Nikki carb from what I've been hearing from others. I got my rebuild kit from classicgarage.com and I'm pretty sure they have the kit for the Hitachis as well. For the Weber, you could go and measure your manifold to make sure. As mentioned the adapter for the J13 manifold was from Jam Engineering Corp - jameng.com and from their Products->Carburetor Adapters for part 99004.300, their info reads: "Manifold studs measure 3.150" x 1.740" (80mm x 44mm) center to center". I did have to file out the holes on the carb just a little bit to fit the new studs put in. Or, as Charlie69 suggested the Pierce manifold with Weber. That may be an interesting option if that manifold would give you more clearance, because the Weber was a tight fit against the valve cover. I never went farther to find out more about the Pierce once I found the JAM adapter so I don't know.

I am sure I have the Nikki. Too bad, because the Hitachi rebuild kit is half the cost! I understand you want to keep it. I appreciate your post with all the part numbers. Saves others a lot of work. Redline I believe sells an entire kit for the MGB manifold swap, but they won't confirm the fitment, so I don't want to risk $350. Have fun with the truck. Looks great! I thought mine was nice and rust free, but yours looks practically new.

Pierce Manifold is the name of the place I buy my Webers & parts. It is not a manifold.

Keith - Haven't really done much to the truck. New shocks, front bushings, tre's, speedo cable, fuel pump, and rims&tires for better ride. Been using as my daily driver lately, and don't plan anything soon except to fix some oil leaks. How about yours?
Charlie - Thanks for clarification. I checked out their website. Have seen pictures elsewhere of Pierce manifolds for Weber applications to MG that I think people said will bolt to the j13, I'm don't know whether they are made by the same Pierce Manifolds Co. you suggested though.
Here's newer pic.

That is one beautiful truck!!

Pierce manifolds can tell you if they have a manifold to fit the J13. Yes what you have seen is Pierce Manifold most likely

I am in the process of rebuilding the J13.

I have gone thru the fuel system, flushed the tank, cleaned the lines, rebuild the fuel pump & fuel bowl assembly. Then I went thru the brake & clutch hydraulic system. Now I am refurbishing the transmission housing & drive shaft. I have yet to do the upholstery and other interior components. If the weather stays agreeable, I can make some good progress.
