what will fit inside the bay? will a sr20det (silvia) fit in there? or a f20c (s2000)? small block crate engine?

Not sure about the first two, but a small block should fit.  IF the first two are inline 6 engines, then chances are no.  Generally speaking, 4 cylinder, V6, and V8 will fit in just about anything, with few exceptions.  Just make sure if it's something larger, that you either have a way to get to the spark plugs, or you get plugs that are not likely to foul out, or will still run even when worn down, such as Bosch Platinums.  Those things usually keep going even when fouled.

FJ20 and SR20 are both 4 cyl.  I've seen both in 510s and 521s.

I'd say they were about equal in complexity. But, just a thought, Parts for the FJ motor are getting harder to find. It was a limited production motor after all. Where as, the SR20DE is still out there and very popular, so parts are still being produced.

I do love the spirit of the FJ20DE, It's blood line is from the S20 and LZ Twincam race motors. So it just drips in Nissan history.

The Alloy block of the SR20DE would be an asset on aging suspensions.

The most complex? That would have to be either in their Turbo mode. The FJ20DET or the SR20DET would be a plumbing problem.

With either one you'll get to use that tough-as-nails FS5W71C transmission!

I'm building a 13B rotary engine for my 521. Mildly streetported, weber 45 sidedraft, 6 port intake & Ti rotor housings, etc. Gonna make about 200hp at the wheels, which is more than it needs, lol.
