510 with V8

A friend of mine just bought himself a 1971 Datsun 510 2 door.Hi had an 1969 Corvette engine with about 500bhp that he planted in the 510!It`s a psycho ride I tell you!and the sound! grrrrrHave anyone else seen a V8 charged 510??

I've seen a V8 dime, I'm still digging the idea of the sub 400 lb CA18DET, 50 chp would be about 400 whp so it should be good for a mid low 10 second pass on the drag strip, and that would have to be a heck of a ride

and to be clear being a vette motor means very little, up till recently a vette motor was the same as any other V8 save for a few minor details

Take It easy!He is a good welder so it went realy god.When he comes back into town I`ll se if i can take some pictures of The Engine bay and around the car!

im looking to put a ford 289 in my 1970 dime. but i cant find much tech info on it. like mounting it, do i have to cut the firewall etc. if you can help it would be greatly appreciated.

you should have plenty of clearance without having to cut into the firewall, most likely you''ll need a front sump oilpan and pickup and some simple mounts fabbed to go to the stock crossmsmber which is reversible if it makes anything fit better, , if you run into real trouble a rack and pinion swap can eliminate the drag linka nd get you room for a rear sump maybe, not a lot of documented v8 dime swaps, but it's all pretty basic fab work, why the 289 and not the roller 302? or better yet a 347 stroker?

thanks for the info. i actually did decide to go with the 302 i found one less than a mile from my house with a trans for $200 and im going to rebuild it with flat tops and a mild cam.
