im really interested in the 510s and im looking for a nice one to buy however i dont have the time or knowledge to do a full project by myself. i was first looking for a sr20 or ka24 but i found i nice 510 with a nissan vg3000 swap and it looks legit. im still a noob to the datsuns so i dont know what engine that is, all i have heard of is the sr and ka. does anyone know what car that engine is from and if it is reliable and powerful in the 510? thanks

As a street car that is one of the best engine swaps to have. A 510 with a VG30 will seriously move. They have plenty of torque. As for that particular car, there is a problem. It has the Hardbody/Pathfinder intake manifold. I would also question if it is a Hardbody/Pathfinder engine. They are a bit different from the one in the 300ZX. Different cams and a slightly different poweband obviously as it came out of a truck. Back to the original point though. The engine is fine, but you will need to get an intake manifold from a 200SX in order to get a hood on that car. Right now, a hood will not close. The Truck and 300ZX manifolds are too tall. The 200SX has aslight slope to it and will allow a stock hood to close properly.

so basically it is a good swap for street use and will still pull like a beast? and if the engine is from the truck rather than the 300zx, will it still be a good buy? and the guy that has it has a fiberglass hood that is held with pins so i wouldnt have to worry about the clearence. if the fiberglass hood fits do you think a stock hood would still fit?

thanks for the info, it is greatly appretiated - Nick

I actually own this car now and ill tell you that this is one sweet ride. I am glad i got it... Thanks for the review on the motor as it gave me some things to look for. It has a fiberglass hood on it and clears the intake just fine. Now if i can just find parts to get the speedometer to work. If any one has the pars that attach to the transmission that will allow me to screw a 1/4 Square cable to i am willing to buy them asap.

Thanks
