Hey all. Im looking around at different cars lately, as in the future (well far future) i will be getting a second car. now, it will be a daily driver, but i really want to get a classic datsun. i was reading up on 240z's, but maybe a 510 would be a better choice. i wouldnt be putting too much money into it, i would just want a straight car with hopefully no rust.what is life with a 510 like? would it be an unbelievably bad idea to daily drive it in WI? and could i find a decent one for under 3K? thanks-Enzo

what area are you in? if you really wanted to drive it everyday, the car would have no problem as long as you maintained it and what not, and didnt stray to far from stock, which you staited you didnot want to do. the problem would be if you are willing to drive a loud, thin bodied 30 year old car everyday. dont excpect it to ride as nice or be as "luxorious" as your 240, there is a 20 year difference is build quality and technology.

i drove mine daily for about a year before i started my restoration, and never had a problem, and the looks from people who saw it made it worthwhile. (510's are very rare in northeast usa)

yeah i want to stay mostly stock. unless stuff is broken, i want to leave it. i wont mind the loudness, and what not. i just want to make sure the car can handle the use, and also the wisconsin winters...-Enzo

believe it or not, my 510 has been one of the best cars i have ever driven in the snow, even though i didnt want to drive it, but i had to get to work.

if you go to cali or oregon, you could get a real good 510 for 3000 or under, and if you plan on driving it in the winter, and want it to last, make sure you keep it real clean, as far as salt and stuff.

510driver.com was a real good sight, but it disapeared and has not returned. im not sure what the deal is, they were supposed to be changing servers and coming back up november 1st, but its still down.

try dimequarterly.com also, very good sight with a decent forum.

join the bluebirds email list. THere is a ton of people subscribed from all over the world. Instructions to join are on the dimequarterly website. You are going to have a hell of a time finding one that meets your description in WI, but good luck anyway.p.s. I have used 510s as daily drivers and project cars, lets just say I prefer my acura to be my daily driver, and 510 to be my project car.
