510 no power on the street

1971 datto 510, auto trans, manual choke. Starts and revs up fine in the garage. As soon as I hit the street, no power. In one word, bleah. Cuts out as soon as I hit the gas. I was told two things, fuel delivery problem, or torque converter. I put Lucas trans lube in but it didn't help. Any thoughts appreciated.

Lots to check there.

TC is a possibility, but I think you'd hear the RPMs increase without a corresponding increase in acceleration.

Sounds more like tuning to me - Remember, it may rev in neutral just fine, but under load, everything's different.
