Hey, I'm still looking to purchase a 240 and I found 2 that I'm interested in but I'm not sure about the power output, I wanted to see if you guys thought these numbers were accurate.

Here is the first one, it looks really sexy, but the hp output (according to the owner) is significantly less than the other. "95' 240sx, 90k mi, Ka-turbo,Body Kit,FMIC,large radiator, injectors,JTW ecu,and much more... it has a T3/T4 turbo and is running at like 6 psi." The guys says that it's probably putting out between 260-270 horse power. Sound right?

Here is the second 240 I'm looking at, not the fancy body kit and all that jazz, but the HP according to the owner is very high. "145k on the car, 17k on the engine. Original block, but everything else has been upgraded (pistons, rods, etc). No idea what kinda power it's putting down now. Previous turbo was much smaller and not a ball bearing and it made 420 at the wheels at 22psi on 93 octane pump gas. With the GT35R, it should make in theneighborhood of 500 on pump gas." Sound right?

Also, the 240 with the body kit is getting a new motor put in it before the sale which sounds good to me I guess... The power steering is leaking a little though and the engine is running a little rich I think so I would have to get a SAFC put in there and then tuned. With this other 240, should I be afraid of getting a 240 whose motor has been run on 22psi? Let me know your opinions. If they both sound like good deals what would you go for, the look, or the power... and is something with 500HP going to get like 17mpg? The one with the higher HP is also $1600 more. Let me know what you think.

The second car you are looking at has been around for a little while, it was owned by a member Neomd then bought by a guy Tig488 on Ka-t.org and some other forums. There are few vids of track and dyno runs somewhere, and as far as I know the car never had any major issues other than a HG.

There are many things to consider. What is the general condition, does the first have forged internals, what is the value/quality of the bodywork, etc. What kind of wheels & tires do they have? Plus, what kind of work can you do?

The second car defenitly has a beast of a motor - how is it tuned for 22lbs?

I guess it all depends which one you like. You don't need 500HP but having forged internals is a huge plus. Also, $1,600 can go damn quick when you start buying body kits and paint. Plus, although it's no GT-R the T04E can produce 400+HP. And what of the rest of the drive lines? Clutch, LSD?

Me personally, I'd probably go for the 300HP + hottness over 500HP + uglyness. But like I said, I would need to know the whole package.

Just a friendly reminder a 240sx with 500rwhp is a very dangurase car.

Now if you are new to the game and don't really know what your doing then maybe you should do some research before buying a boosted car especially one like the KA.

KA's seem to have their days, and can be very reliable if of course the previous owner knew what he/she is was doing. But will run perfectly for years and then all of a sudden it will decide to hiccup.

Now I'm not here to steer away from the KA cause I personally love the motor obviously. But if you want something fun more reliable, and ready to go, I would recommend getting a 240 with a SR swapped in properly. It will last you years to come, and if you get it from a respective shop you might even get some warranty.

It's all up to you and what you would like to do with it.

You should check out our sticky's on to of the forums they have pretty much all the Info you could use and learn about the KA.

Thanks, and Welcome to NICO.Mike

I've been through 3 engines now... I'm staying KA. I'm still cheaper than what an sr swap would of cost for the same power....It's all about your tune. ka at 6psi I would like to see a dyno of it making over 220.

Let me see if I can help you a little bit... Let me start by saying im very good friends with neoamd and have been around this car since the begining. The car never made 440 (actually was 442whp) on the setup right now. It made that power on weiseco pistons that I was told appeared to be stock compression. It now has arias 8.8:1. Also at 422whp the car was detonating its brains out which is why it lifted the head twice and has blown the cometic headgaskets. Also this power was made on a boost designs equal length manifold (although it had multiple cracks in it) now the car has an ETD semi-log manifold. Finally the car made that power on the original sc61 turbo. All that being said it is still a VERY nice car. The paint needs some help because of the kouki front end conversion, the red does not match. The interior is absolutely perfect. The work wheels are in great condition.

Also neoamd went through alot of trouble fixing all the mess up's by the original owner Jeff Easy from Z ilvia. The car however is not the stock block. The block came from another local around here. It does have crower pro series rods, arias 8.8:1 .020" pistons, calico bearings, heavily ported head w/ stock valves, and arp 10mm headstuds. And the person who did all the work is a master tech at our local nissan dealership. He is very good with the work he does and put a LOT of time into getting this car right, so if you purchase it I believe you will be pleased. I wouldn't imagine it giving you any troubles, but remember even built motors cannot withstand stupidity!

Hope this helps you... if you have any other questions feel free to ask, i'll do my best to answer them or i can get ahold of someone who can.

I don't think it's Neomd's if his is red and kouki. This one is zenki and green. The outside is completely stock with stock rims and original green paint.
