So yeah a friends dad owns a junkyard, heard he had a T25 lying around.....I scooped this **** up, he says it's functional. I'm not in any way shape or form turbo savy....so I was just wondering if this turbo is actually do-able? Help is greatly appriciated.

Right now i've got a Ka24DE, have the parts to rebuild.....I just wanna know if this thing will fall apart or not.

it doesnt look that bad, but cant tell until you run it. check for any play in the turbine. move it side to side and in and out. if you are planning to rebuild it then it should be fine as long as the fins didnt hit the inside of the turbo. plus is it a 5 bolt exhaust outlet? this is from a sr20 right?

supposedly, yes this is from an SR20. I do know enough that there isn't any turbine play at all, one side is just a little dirty. Uhh, where is the exhaust outlet? lol.

(I is a noob)

should be the side where exhaust gas flows out into elbow to downpipe. for you its the side w/ 5 stud bolts. you get it "outlet" the exhaust side that flows out? it's okay we are learning everyday. but you should read turbo 101.

There is absolutely no way we can tell you how your turbo is by looking at a picture. Unfortunately, the only way your going to know if its good or not is by running it.

There are a few ways to figure out that its bad however... For instance, if its got oil in the compressor housing then your seals are blown. Or if there is shaft play. To check for shaft play, put your hands on the nut on the compressor housing. First, pull it/push it in. If there is any movement, your turbo is most likely fvked and wont last long. Then check for side to side shaft play, same concept. However, with side to side play there is a lot more slop that is acceptable. Its normal for used turbos to have side to side shaft play.

Or you can tell if it's not usable if it's got a big crack in the turbine housing..

If it's not do-able, see if you can get your money back. It's not always the case though, especially when stuff is sold 'as-is', or even if it's not what it's supposed to be.

Good Luck either way.
