50 more HP?

How easy is it to get 50 more HP out of a VQ30DE? Automatic Let me know what to do... cuz I don't like the cobalt SS and the acura cl 3.5... what a pieces of s*it. I've lost a few races to those and i'm getting tired of it...

Stickers are good for about 2 hp each, so 25 stickers will about do it....

ha... i'm not like some of these dorks out on the street that think they have a type R sticker on their car and think they're special... i like retaining the stock look but some a** kicking power... a sleeper if you will

Intake, Exhaust, Underdrive pully, headers, that should get you close to 50 more horse. look through the sponsor page, i suggest http://www.customenterprise.com

Start with a y-pipe. It's the best $ to hp increase you'll get; somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 additional hp. Next go for the intake and exhaust. I've had both a mid-pipe intake (places the filter behind the battery), and currently an Injen intake. Both are vast improvements over stock. You should also get good gains from getting a new cat-back exhaust; the VQ likes to breath. The underdrive pulley is also a nice addition. You could even swap a 2000-2001 intake.

But with all those mods, I still don't anticipate a 50hp gain. The main problem is that the automatic transmission is the week link when it comes to adding power. You can however have one built, or modify the valve body and add a trans cooler.

The way to go if you're looking to make a Maxima/I30 fast, is to get/swap a manual trans. This a link with instructions on how to do the swap. http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modu...id=30 With a manual, and most of the mods mentioned above, you could add just a 35 shot of N2O and have a very quick car.

I wouldn't think Nissan would put a weak transmision in the car... I want about 220HP so I don't feel that the transmission would be a huge issue... I could understand if I wanted to super charge or turbo. I was thinking along the lines of tuned chip and cold air intake and getting a new exaust system... how much would that do?

Yeah, easiest way to get 50hp is to add a 50-shot.

With the VQ30, you may be able to find a used Stillen SC.....

if it were really EASY and cost effective to get 50 HP without compromising reliability or much of anything else, wouldnt you think the factory would have done it??

The auto in the maxima isnt bad for stock power, but like most nissan auto's they dont like a bunch of extra power. 50 HP probably wouldnt be a big deal...

my advice for any engine (and in this case a VQ30DE which really likes to pull power from midrange RPM), is the intake and exhaust idea, plus the headers and underdrive pulleys.

on top of that if you do some valvetrain work and tune the chip it should give you at least 50 more, possibly even better than that depending on how much valvetrain work you do.

also, ignition and fuel system is a good thing to upgrade when you're doing valvetrain modifications.

That should net you at least another 50 HP. :
