So I'm looking at my 95 240 needing a 5x114.3 bolt pattern wheel. I know that 114.3mm = 4.5 inches.

I know that a toyota 5 lug wheel on a truck will fit on a ford ranger or jeep.

Ford, Jeep, etc are 5 x 4.5 domestic, but with slightly different hub diameters.

Are Nissans Hub Centric or Lug Centric wheels?

Are the hub diameters common to either of these applications?

I'm wondering if I can use a set of wheels from a mustang or similar on my car.

Appreciate any feedback.

Mike

I listed most all auto maker hub bore and bolt patterns in Chet's wheel info sticky, so check it out near the top of the topics page.

OEM wheels are hub centric. The idea being for the hub to carry load, the studs and lugs to keep the wheel connected to the hub.(so I'm told)

Lots of people use mustang wheels! Crown Vic and Towncar and LSC are some other good Ford makes that offer good lookin aluminum wheels.

so even though the stock wheels are hub-centered, you can still run a lug-centered wheel without it screwing things up?

90% of all aftermarket wheels if not more are lug centric.

Any mass marketed wheel is lug centric. Hub centric rings can be found in the aftermarket if you look hard enough.

Only special wheels from top tier companies offer metal hub centric rings, and only vehicle specific aftermarket wheels(Rays for Z33 for example), which are rare and expensive, are hub centric. Build to order units from HRE, BBS, etc. can be hub centric.

The reason most mass market wheels are lug centric is too accommodate for different hub bores. If Honda and toyota and hyundai all have smaller hub bores than Nissan, then Motegi (for example) needs to make their hub bore at least as big as the biggest hub bore found on any vehicle in a given bolt pattern.
