So I finally went ahead and tinted my rear cargo window. At first, my initial thoughts when contemplating any tint in the rear was to go as light as possible. I never tinted back there but since I got a back up cam in addition to a rear mirror cam, I went ahead and tinted the back finally. I thought I go 20% Llumar but the tint guy said he personally do the 5% since I already did 5% on the rear passengers and small side pillar windows. I did this because I don't look out of these windows while driving anyways. During the heatwave and sunny days, these windows helped alot.

Well it was just my luck that a police car was behind me at a stoplight AT NIGHT! Oh great, I kept my cool and nothing happened. So there you have it, the same day I got 5% tint over factory and a police car behind me did not stop me. :rotfl

The funny thing is I got stopped before and the police let me go. He must have felt bad when he saw a baby sleeping behind me. I had 5% over the factory tinted windows except the rear at the time with 50% tint in the front driver/passenger sides. Everything legal. Because of that situation, I decided to go 35% for the driver/passenger which is illegal actually but I never been stopped.

I don't know if it was because my monitor mirror made it seem like you can see the mirror making the illusion that it was not that dark or if my Rogue looked similiar to an SUV since it's actually a CUV but all the exterior accessories make it pass for an SUV off-road looking vehicle.

I was wary about getting the 5% over the factory since being an old fart such as myself. I would probably gotten it when I was younger. Actually I was one of the first to tint in my area. It was after watching some eddie murphy movie and believe it or not I tinted before there was even any tint laws. Truthfully when I was a teen my vehicle should have been grandfathered by the laws. It was not to be since I got tint tickets left and right back in the day.

The 5% looks great and I am not trying to look cool but just paranoid that somebody might see my audio/video upgrades, hence the dark tint to lessen their visibility. Moreover, I felt comfortable doing the 5% tints in the rear since I have 2 back-up cams to rely on in addition to my blind spot mirrors.

I actually saw 2% tint on ebay. On an SUV in my state you can have the back windows as dark as you like.

After 5% Llumar tint over factory. I am actually surprised you can still vaguely see the outline of the rear view mirror and headrests. I really thought you would not be able to see inside. It's probably because of the white garage background.

This is my rear passenger window with 5% ASWF (American Standard Window Film) which is cheaper than the Llumar) Only got the Llumar on the front driver/passenger sides and eventually the rear cargo windows since those are the windows I tend to use. I have the old 50% in the front here so the difference is less prominent with the 35%. Plus with it still being lighter and still having a good contrast between the front and rear, it is less likely a LEO will stop me. Or I hope.

All in all, the rear at night is VERY dark. You won't see anything but you do see the circles of any headlight. For backing up, if you have no rear cam you need to open your drivers window and look behind. In summary, everything is legal except my 35% front and my maybe the 5% sunshade( iffy with state inspections since it is way above the AS1 line, had it removed and redone cuz of the last inspection) :chuckle:
