5 speed transmission +1

hello just a thought I seen posts about people wanting a 6 speed in the 240sx on a ka24de. what would be the draw back to taking the 6 speed gears out and matching the first 5 to the stock five speed and turning the 6th into a overdrive like gear?


if anyone has any thought to any of this pleas help me. I can do the work but cant find the info to make a conclusion about it being a good thought or not.

You mean taking all the gears from the 6 speed trans and putting them in the 5 speed trans?
From what I understand, the exterior of the trans is the same, they just cut down on the thickness of the gears to fit another one in there, which also rendered it weaker.

I think he is talking about doing the opposite.
He wants to take the 5 speed gears and put it into a 6 speed, but leave the 6th gear in.

But would be tough to fit, given the smaller gears to fit all 6 into the bellhousing. You could use a different bellhousing I guess, but you get into all the other changes with that.
