I am swapping a s13 5 speed trans in my s14 and I wanted to know whether I use a driveshaft from a s13 or s14. I also wanted to know if I use the s13 5 speed VSS or a s14 5 speed VSS, and how do tell if my car has ABS or not. Thanks.

if your swapping into a s14 then you use an s14 driveshaft....if you have abs youll have some solenoids under the hood. not sure about the speed sensor but id just use the s14 one since your car is an s14

- s14 drivershaft- s14 vss- 2 hardlines on BMC if it's ABS, 3 hardlines for non ABS. ABS actuator is easy to spot under the hood too.

When I drilled my hole for my crank sensor i used a regular bit and it cut through like butter. just make sure you drill it the same size. mine got glued in with some silicone cement stuff and has been fine ever since.

I also made the mistake of putting all the s14 sensors including the vss on the transmission. I have no speedo and my redline is 5300. Why? no idea. But from what ive heard the s13 vss works if you route it in.

My 2 cents.

I already knew about that. I have done my homework, I already know how to do the swap, I was just uncertain about what parts were interchangeble between the s13 and s14.

You don't need any kind of special drill.

That is what I heard about the VSS. The transmission I got came with the s13 VSS so I'll just try that one and if it doesn't work, then I'll use the one from the s14.

The s13 will not work properly. When traveling 60mph, your speedo will read 120mph.

I have dimensions for the location of the crank position sensor in the bellhousing. There was a template made for drilling the sensor/tapped hole by another member- mottoman399 (maybe), but I am not sure where it is now. Your best bet is to find an s14 bellhousing. That is what I did. Keep in mind that your car will function perfectly without the CKPS. It is purely OBDII crap. Without it, you will have a CEL.

What is a CKPS. Are you talking about the Crank Angle Sensor, if so, s14's will ABSOLUTELY not run without it.

Crankshaft Position Sensor is located in the trans. bellhousing and is used only for diagnostics. Now, the Camshaft Position Sensor is located in the distributor and is an entirely different story.

Look in the FSM. It will tell you....Page EC-13 subnote *1- 'These sensors are not used to directly control the engine system. They are used only for the on board diagnosis.'

Well if thats the case, then I don't need it My 240 is a '95 and in MD, '96 and up is considered OBDII so I don't have to go through any of that testing, so it doesn't matter if it throws a cel.
