I just succesfully completed a 1992 240sx vert manual trans swap and I go to turn the key to start the car and there is no power what so ever in the car. So even if the my wiring was bad for the neutral loop trick the car would still have power right? What I'm asking is if even if you ef up the parking light wiring you should still have power to the sterio and lights and everything? I think my battery's dead because we took a very thin peice of wire and touched the two terminals and it didn't burn up.

if you leave a battery on the ground to long the battery gose dead do to it grounding out...

also if you did it all right the car would still turn on your top wouldent go down..

dose the radio or lights turn on? ifnot its the battery try giving it a jump

I fixed it, the problem was so dumb its pretty funny. We didn't disconect the negetive wire since we thought it was that it might shock you and as an electrician I don't belive it could. Turns out though since we jacked up the car for about 5 days, the jacks happen to be steel and completely grounded the car to the floor which sucked the hell out of battery. As for the swap the only problem we have left is that the key release thingy is messed up needs rewiring. Best 350$ I ever spent, god its great to shift topless!

as an electrician, why didnt you check the battery for voltage with a test light instead of a "real thin wire".

that is one of teh most bootleg things i have ever heard.

Didn't have my meter with me, a hair thin size wire will tell you if the battery's dead. He dude, Wise men say "If if it ****ing works then it ****ing works and if it still is neat and the job gets done, who realy gives a damn on how it got done". By the way I live in atlantic city and it is getto. You never can get anything you need around here and finding stuff to fix my car is a nightmare, tools or parts. You just learn to make a tool or part out of anthing. Today was an exelent example I had to fix a on inch hole my e.r.g pipe. So I went to nissan and of course they want to charge me 100$ for a tube and you can find anything to close it up with at the auto stores. So what do you do wait a week and a half for nissan to come up with the part and pay 100$ for it or just get your self a peice of 1/2 steel contuit for 1$ and clamp it on with some header crack sealent for 5$. 6$ or 100$, drive today or somtime next week. You probably already know this but I'd like to point out to everyone that, My car has many getto fixes and tricks and I bet you couldn't tell because its still neatly done. I also like you guys to know that my next upgrade will be a hood mounted oil cooler with a thermostatic fan and it will be done all under 200$ and by the way the oil cooler is B&M so its quality.

I am a novice but somewhat mechanically enclined. So if I cannot get my automatic transmission problems worked out I will be looking to swap out my transmission for a manual one. A friend here is what I am looking for, so if you're experiences with a swap can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a 93 vert and want to know what year 5 speed to buy and what works best. I assume everyone who does the swap buys aftermarket parts like a new clutch and throwout bearing, etc. What parts work bests and where do you get them? Thanks for your time and input. Matt
