5 Speed swap Done... Whats wrong with my Transmission now??

So I just finished putting back together my 92 240sx. I put the fluid in the transmission through the shifter hole, bleed the clutch (Im not sure if I did a good job at it tho). So I start it up and the car will not stay on unless I have my foot on the clutch ALL THE WAY IN! So you would say.... Don't put it in Gear... leave it in neutral.... Sounds silly but I can't find neutral.... is my transmission no good?? Do I need to do a better job at bleeding the clutch??

Ok guys.... So i got it fixed after working on it all day.... So I said F(*& it and pull the transmission. Once I got the transmission out (there goes 2.5 quarts Expensive royal purple :-/ ) I decided to open the transmission and see if I could see anything wrong inside there... Well everything looked good except for this one bearing that it looked like it was missing bearings but it was spinning freely without any problems... (whatever transmission was trash to me at that point). So I started playing around with the linkage that moves the rods up and down to shift gears.... after a little while I got familiar with how it works and put it in neutral......(something I was not able to do) Basically you have to line up and the rods together evenly then put the top half back in then try to shift through the gears. After this I was able to shift into all gears......

The guy that I bought the transmission from obviously opened it up without knowing how to put it back together correctly........ B**** ...... no wondering the sold it to me without no shifter!! He swore up and down that it was good and ready to go. I bought it from some guy on craigslist driving 2006 Scion xB, said he was from LA but i met him at the buena park mall..... So just a heads up just in case anybody runs into him.

Just adding some additional info just in case someone runs into the same issue in the future.

Additional Symptoms

: Could only get into first and second gear: Could not put it in Neutral ( could only pull the shifter to the left to get into 1st & 2nd) : Could not pull the shifter to the right to get into reverse ..........

I guess it was just Stuck between first in second....... and would not go into neutral, I thought it was in neutral when it was between first and second but the car would die as soon I start letting go of the clutch.

Now I just got to put some fluid back in the transmission and try to take it out for spin!!! I'm crossing my fingers that everything turns out ok OR I am going to have to post it up for sale because its such a pain in the a**... specially after having to install the transmission for a second time........

Don't know yet.... I'll find out tomorrow after I put in transmission fluid. It got late and the stores where closed but I'll keep you guys updated
