5 speed swap done but speedo showing double, question about speed sensor

Like the title says, I've just had the 5 speed swap done, along w/ a lower mileage engine into my s14, but I used an s13 trans and now my speedometer and odometer both show double what I'm actually doing. On the highway its looks pretty crazy cuz the needle goes all the way past 120 and gets stuck on the little button for the tripometer. I figure I'm going about 75 at this point, but It also feels like I can't go any faster, the engine seems bogged down, like a limiter kicks in. I"ve read that the s13 speed sensor is differnt and will do this so I'm trying to find an s14 sensor, so I have a couple of questions. will it be a direct fit, or will I have to cut the plug and rewire it? and is there any difference between the s14 manual and auto sensors?

auto and manual are definitely different. im having the same issue and trying to find out if the s13 and s14 sensors are different or just the gear on the end of the sensor. every place i look shows the same part number for the actual sensors. i'll be going to the dealership tomorrow to check it out.

I keep seeing a 'new' speed sensor on ebay thats listed for "95-89", but it seems like thats a typo, like it should be "95-98"?

auto/manual VSS arn't different, S13 and S14 VSS are very different. Get the right chassis one

so if the car were a '97 I'd have to get a '97 Speed Sensor or are all the S14's the same?..same goes with S13's?

Did you use an engine from a S13 or S14?

i have an auto and a manual sitting right in front of me and the auto is about 1/2 inch larger in diameter

sorry to thread jack, but I have an s14 with s13 sr in it..im not sure what speed sensor is currently on the transmission but it's reading double as well. Since I have a jdm cluster do I need to get the s14 sr speed sensor or can I just use an s14 KA speed sensor?
