I bought the boy a 2000 Honda Prelude yesterday with a 5-speed. I had forgotten how much fun it was to drive and now I've got to teach him how to drive it!

I've threatened for years now to do the swap but really don't have the technical chops to pull it off myself. So my question is - if I buy all the parts and garage them for a bit what's the consensus out-of-pocket i'll spend for parts - knowing that this will vary for quality and any "deals" I might run into.

The next step is to con one of you to come to Raleigh and help me!

Also, this board has kinda slowed down a bit. Any Spring/summer projects coming up for anyone? PEACE!

But rough estimates:
5spd tranny $75-$100, may get lucky though
New slave cyl at parts store $15
Master cyl and line - $20-$25
5spd driveshaft - $20-$40 hopefully
Clutch kit - really varies - ebay Exedy stock replacement - $100
May want OEM throwout bearing and pilot bushing - $70
Shifter, shifter trim, etc - OEM would be $50 or so, goes up if aftermarket shifter
New OEM rear main seal and tranny seals - $40 or so probably
Tranny oil - 2.5qts depends on brand
S13 5spd clutch and brake pedal - $50 or so

That's about all off the top of my head.

Oh no, blinded by a honda.

We had a bunch of cars on the list - Nissans, Toyota, Acura, etc. so we weren't looking for a honda - the Prelude was one of them and then all the peices fell into place. Other than the boy not knowing how to drive a stick :>)

Should be easy to teach on at least.

Hope the list helps, over all I paid about 700 dollars, but I did buy almost everything from Nissan Dealership, and I am glad because doing the swap, I had everything I needed after I bought all the bolts, well I lied, I had to go to ACE and buy one bolt, but I dont remember which one.
