Just finished up the swap (92 KAT auto--->manual), and holy sh#* did it wake up the car! I could hardly believe it was the same car i was driving a week ago. Pretty easy all in all, didn't swap ecu....I hate extra work...bypassed the P/N switch...the rest was pretty straight forward....I tried a few things out on her that i was looking for info/reviews on the board but couldn't find any- A Proclutch stage 3 clutch and the shifter i'll call the "B&N" (pretty flawless knock-off of everyones favorite shifter, but for $100 less). Everything seems cool so far- i'll let everyone know how they work out in the long haul. The clutch is very streetable for a stage 3 compared to clutchmasters and act's i've driven holds the power fine, and not too much chatter (it's sprung). Anyways, just trying to share some of my excitement.....for those of you tossing the idea around, GO for it, you won't be sorry! Total parts cost was about $500 including the clutch and short throw...labor cost was a few cuts and pulled muscles (it's alot heavier laying on your back)....and a head full of ATF :)

I converted my second 240 less than 2 months ago. Do you have an idle problem, such as not ideling down untill you come to a stop for a few seconds? I had a local clutch shop make me a clutch. Its very streetable and it was 300 cash, and they resurfaced my flywheel for free too. Nick

Yeah, it does hang around 1,300rpm for a while, but then gradually decreases to a normal idle....I had just attributed it to leaving the auto ecu running things, perhaps i'm worng, but anyways....btw, thanks a lot, it was your picture of bypassing the P/N switch that finally got her started- nobody else really described it well.

No problem, you can thank my friend Bill he did a few auto to manual conversions a week in Japan. He the one who showed me an said it wasn't a big deal. I'll stick with the auto ECU, I haven't hit a speed cut yet. idle doesn't bother me, I'm use to it. My new 240 seems to idle up longer than my previous 240.

I have that idle problem. When it finally idles down, it will idles at like 800. It idles at the normal 600 or 650 with I have my headlights on though, heh.

Comb the local junkyards on a biweekly basis and talk to local nissan owners about parts and where cars are located in the junkyards. car-part.com works too. Nissan dealer want too much.

No, I avoid that place like the plague- too much cops and bullsh*t.I've seen a few nice cars around me, but never met any of the owners...out here we go up to bald hill on tuesday nights, though i'm yet to go this year because i always have to work.

my 90 240 has been doin that weird idle thing for a year now. I think maybe the cold-idle sensor maybe messed up but i'm not sure where it is or what to do with it (except replace it when i find it). Like I'll drive aroudn and then put it in neutral cruising at 40+mph and the idle will go down to 12000 or 1300 and stay there until i tap the brakes or slow down to a stop. it's a little annoying, but not too bad. Oh, btw this was a M/T car to begin with, so not an Auto ECU issue for sure.

Sounds like a vaccum leak if its a manual ecu. All the swaped auto ecu have done the samething with idleing up.
