Hi all, I just bought my first 240sx and it just so happens to be a vert. It's just an old '93 completely stock and like I've read here most everybody wishes it had came with a 5 speed. Unfortunatlely, 240sx's are not really common cars here in east KY but a friend offered me a '91-92 Nissan Maxima w/ the 3.0 V6 and a 5 speed, *CHEAP* ,but I only want it if the transmission will fit in mine. I suspect it wont. Can anyone back me up on that and if not are 240sx trannys the only one that will fit? Will post pics once I figure out how! ( hint

Uhm yeah, FWD transmission isn't going to work on a RWD car. Much less the differences in the engines.

welcome to the forums.

You definitely cannot put a fwd VG motor and/or trans in a rwd 240.

Keep an eye on the classifieds page for a deal on a used 5 spd trans. zeroforum/227

If you are into lt1 motors, give some thought into having a lt1 motor installed into the 240 convertible. A carbed V8 would be pretty cool in a little 240. Would be fairly easy and cheap to install as well.. (as far as custom swaps go at least).

ooh, embarrassing... He said he thought it was RWD, I had never personally looked at it cause its a couple counties over. Also this is going to be my daily driver so gas mileage is very important and a carbed lt1 isn't exactly wallet friendly at the pump. (very cool idea though)

Automatic these cars average about 20mpg I think, at least mine and the other guy's vert at work does. I think you could get an LT1 into the lower to mid 20's if you're not peddle happy. That's my main issue with saving gas right now.
