I did a five speed in my 96. I changed the ecu and all that. Got the wrong computer at first so I had to wait, but I got the new one and threw it in, everything was cool. A few days go by and the MIL comes on. For a vehicle speed sensor. I changed with a brand new 140 dollar one from Nissan, clear the code and start driving it. The code came back. WTF do I do now?? Tried searching it. Cant really find nothing. Help me.Quick

Since you have a new speed sensor, what's left is the wiring; in particular, the harness connector.

Yes the speedometer works fine. When I plug in the OB2 machine it gives me a mph also.

okay im having a speedo problem here, i think its the speed sensor.

I had a USDM speedo that would work and not work needle was fooked. So I purchased a JDM 180 km speedo. It worked perfect, all fine.

Then I was an idiot and wanted to 'paint' the needle red, so like a fool i took it out... and when i put it back.. it was ruined. Stuck.

In pursuit of a new speedo I bought an impul 260km speedo.

About 5 months passed until I got to installing it. To my shock what I found was a speedo that didn't work.

First, it would jump to like 10km and that was it no rotation.

I took it out and my dad found that it was slammed in, so he 'unslammed it', and at the same time properly reinserted the needle on the old one.

When I put the speedo back in, it then jumped to like 20km/hr and would be stuck there, SOMETIMES it would start to work... and then act weird and that was it... but 99% of the time be stuck.

Yesterday I decided to try my old 180 JDM speedo that m ydad fixed (with the 'painted' needle -- idiot me).

It ALSO jumped to 20km/hr as soon as i turned the car on wth?..... So then I started thinking its the speed sensor...

It works though it turns and all smoothly but it is not acurate as it begins at 20km/hr......

Some help please

Maybe its just my "old school car building philosophy", but if you want a manual DONT start with an auto. No money is being saved on the purchase, not fooling anybody. That being said, stop using those worthless kph speedos. Find you a working USDM speedo that reads in mph. To my understanding the signal is different. Either the signal sent or the signal read is a different voltage.

Well since I started this thread can someone add a little insight to my problem. Gumby74, I got the car with low miles and a defective auto in it. It was 2900 with no other problems. Couldnt pass it up.

Does the a/t controll unit still need to be plugged in??

Please dont answer the above question unless you absolutley know the answer. I dont care to hear what you read on a forum. Im asking the few guys on here that have actually done this swap. obd2 s14
