5 spd swap reverse lights?

well i have a 1994 'vert with a 5 spd swap. (bought it that way)

i need to get my reverse lights working so i can pass safety inspection. the tech. at my work said all he needs to do is run a couple wires because the harness doesnt reach the reverse switch. But, i was told by an owner of a 1992 coupe with a 420 whp KA-T that need to buy the harness out of a 5 spd. coupe.

which of these people is right? or are they both right?

if i do, in fact, need to buy a harness for a 5 spd. coupe, where could i find one?
