So I'm buying a 5 pt harness for my drivers seat (bride brix II) purely because a couple of nissan sr20's pull a premium one week before race wars
anyway, having never installed one before, im asking what is the best way to put one in? because it's pretty much the only thing holding my a** in the seat when i hit the brakes as some douchebag in a ford e-350 cuts me off, and having it detach from whatever its "secured" to in that situation would be bad. I really don't want to learn how to improperly install a 5 pt harness the wrong way. any help?

Whatever you do, please don't mount it to your back seats/floor/etc unless you like your spine being compressed in an accident

The "sixth" point is for submarining, which is rare in street cars. What I must mention is that there is a much higher risk of whiplash (or worse) from the double uprights as compared to a typical street 3-point design, in that most people don't use a HANS restraint for daily driving because of a lack of helmet.

You're welcome ... there's a reason I haven't put my Simpson 5-point from a past racecar into the 240.

is this a track car only? isnt a 5 point harness a little excessive? not bashing you. just curious as to why you really want one

I ran a performance parts based business for many years; and had a racecar team that travelled all over the NIRA/IDRC scene for a few years too. From my experience, most want to complete the look of their modified car because of adding race seats. Others are simply not educated enough (generally speaking) to know the shoulds and shouldn'ts. Of those, there are a few that genuinely think if they are strapped in more securely it (A) gives them more confidence to drive more aggressively, and/or (B) their chances of walking away uninjured from an accident are greatly increased. Both are wrong. The fact is, if your shoulders have no give in collision, how do you think the momentum of your head moving freely is going to affect your spine, particularly in the neck area? Think about it.
