I've seen these conversions from 4-lug to 5-lug that just attach to the stock hub and makes it act like a 5-lug set up. Since they also act as a spacer, would it be safe to run these. Because I was thinking of running Z32 rims all around and well, a spacer would be needed to make them flush-like and not rub the strut because of the highish offset and 8 inch width. Thanks in advance.

I can't really answer your exact question on how safe they are but I can add some information to think about. Those 5 lug spacer add-ons are going to add rotating weight - the worst kind of weight you can add - which will reduce your performance. Therefore by adding 5 lug spacers and 300ZX rims, a completely stock or comparable in power 240sx will outperform your car any day. Unless you’re doing this for style, then I can't really say this is the wisest thing to be doing. Remember weight is probably the most important factor in a car. Hence why a Lotus Elise will ruin a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4's day at the track any time.

these are dangerous. They were breaking and causing accidents apparently. I just went searching for a set but was told they had been recalled because of this and the company was being sued. Do a proper five-lug conversion

But don't a lot of people run spacers on thier rims to clear their brakes at times or so they won't rub on the strut? Also, the Z32 rims would provide more grip seeing as how they are a lot wider. Probably some 245 in the rear and 225s up front. Those tires will help keep the car planted. Just trying to find a temporary conversion while I save up for a real GTO coversion.

some times less is more. I guess it all depends on your application and whether the tradeoff is worth it for your application. Sorry can't be really specific but I think my statement is true for everything :P

true, however the weight is not as far from the center of the rotation as many other parts of the wheel, rim wight and tire weight would start to add up much more then the weight of the spacers. The weight does need to be considered elsewhere though, its much easyer to rotate mass then to make it reciprocate. Unsprun mass is very detrimental to handling... think about the reasons we have springs and shocks on cars, with no suspention the car would bounce, well the rims have no suspention. its important durring acceleration and cornerting that the tires be kept incontact with the ground as much as possible, with a heavy rim being acceletated upward when it hits a small bump in the road its going to stay off the ground, or on the ground but unloaded, for longer, what good is a larger contact patch if its not making contact.( aslo what good is a larger contact patch if your spacer brakes and you crash at 60 into a wall?)
