I'm going to a Z graveyard next week. What parts exactly do I need to get to do a Z32 brake conversion and 5 lug conversion? There won't be any S14's there, so that is out the window, so please, if anyone can just give me a list of what I need, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

Rear Z32 hubs just bolt right on, but I don't think you will be able to do a front 5 lug swap without a) aftermarket 5 lug hubs OR b) S14 parts.

The above link will show you what you need to do the brake swap.

Still not a list of what I need. I'll probably just end up raping everything off the Z, but I still need a list. When I know what I need, I can do it, I don't really need the instructions. Plus that car was already 5 lug.

Well, as I said, you can't do the 5 lug swap in the front using Z parts.

As for the brake upgrade, there's a list of various calipers on that website. You'll need both front calipers of whatever type you want/find, you'll need front rotors, you'll need pads, you'll need some custom brake lines.

Personally, I would buy the pads and rotors new. Stock 300ZX rubber brake lines won't fit on a 240sx and 240sx lines won't fit on your Z32 calipers, so you'll need new lines. You can get some from projectsilvia.com or pdm-racing.com.

This might give you can idea of what you'll need:

http://www.pdm-racing.com/products/brakesz32.html

I'd rebuild the calipers if you get them from the junkyard, since being able to stop is important. They have rebuild kits @ pdm, not sure if you could get the rebuild parts from Nissan.

The link in the post above also discusses the various master cylinders in the 300ZX. Some people keep the stock 240SX MC, but others go with the Z part. I've seen complaints of too much pedal travel with the stock 240 MC, but others don't seem to have a problem with it.

If you swap the rear brakes too, you'll have to deal with the emergency brake. Projectsilvia is coming out with an e-brake kit some time in the distant future, but right now there doesn't seem to be a good solution. Some folks rig something up, and others just do without the e-brake.

It seems that most folks with the Z brakes just do the fronts, since those do the majority of work when you brake anyway.

badmojo, are you sure you can't use the stock 300zx lines? I've seen several ppl do this with no problems, but I don't know if it's an exception with s13s.

It is suggested to not use the banjo style connections on the z32 calipers seeing that they were not designed for them.

Conversion lines use fittings which are screwed right in.

Indeed. Don't **** around with your brakes. Spend the extra money. Stopping is important. :)

This is a banjo fitting:

The line can rotate on the fitting:

When you purchase a conversion kit it is suggested that you get an AN Fitting. This will give you a direct connection. You can use this picture for reference:

I went with twin solid connections for the fronts and my rears.

Hope this helps.

get the Z32 calipers from autozone, use your stock 240 calipers as the core, make sure for the rear you use N/A 26mm calipers

I'd rather get them at the junkyard for a 3rd of the price
