I have a 1993 S13 which is 4-lug.. I went to the junkyard the other day and saw a 1996 SE with all 5-lug parts so I am tryin to get all the hubs and spindles off..The problem is the balljoints.. I cannot get the hubs/spindles..not sure what part actually connects to the joints.. but anyways..me and another guy couldnt get them off with a balljoint seperator and a big *** hammer.. .I was just wondering if there is a trick to getting thses loose or if I will have to break down and take a torch or a air compressor up the hill. (They wont let you take a truck up there...bastards) and if I could cut it off somewhere..where would the ideal place be?? Also, I have heard about having to drill a hole somewhere for the S13 suspension to fit..what do i have to drill and so I need the spring/strut Assy. from the S14??

Thanks, Mav...

Hammer the spindle it'self next to the ball joint, the vibration alone sometimes can work it loose.

just take the whole LCA... you'll gain about 10mm more offset too.

haha.

when you say more offset does that mean it is more towards the middle of the car..or out towards the side?? Sorry, I still am not up on the wheel/tire/suspension stuff yet.....Mav

The control arm is about 10mm longer.

Like Nismo_Freak said, hit the spindle around the ball joint...it should pop out. If not, hit it really hard and it will eventually come out.

it's basically the same as using a 10mm spacer on a stock s13 LCA.

Here is my quick and easy way to 5lug kit, this is what I did:

-Attain fronts from Alan at SPL parts

-OEM Nissan N/A 300ZX rear bearing (for reference i ordered for a '95 model year)(Nissan P/N: 43280-AA100)

-OEM Nissan N/A 300ZX rear hub(Nissan P/N: 43202-85F00)

BAM! Done! Not only 5lug, but new bearings front/rear too. One less thing to worry about.

Yeah the price is lower, but read your thread to see the reasons why it's better, faster, less hassle to buy new parts. Doesn't your car deserve new parts? Mine does!

the attains were $448 iirc, but you know, i IM'd Alan the day before i ordered, he was expecting me to order. The next day I ordered, and he shipped them out that day. You can't beat that! Now, I just need to find a contact that works at Phase2 so I can get my parts that i ordered shipped UPS next day air that still hasn't arrived, after one full business week

Maverick 7687, I encountered the same problem when trying to remove the rear spindle from my s13 to swap to 5-lug. I tried a ball joint separator and a hammer and all I succeeded in doing was destroying the rubber boot around the ball joint. Have you had any luck since your last post?

I agree that this part is a PITA.

I think it would help if you jacked up the LCA a little bit. That way it doesn't move around when you're trying to separate the ball joint.
