Is it worth it to switch to a 5 lug bolt pattern? or is it just for cosmetic purposes?

it makes fingding wheels easier, the zero offset 5x4.5 si far more common than 4x4.5, it's the one thing I never did to my car, if I had planned on going to the extremes I have gone I would have done the swap as well, but at this point I have far too much invested in the current setup to go swapping lug patterns now

Well technically speaking, more lug nuts can more safely hold more weight. Which is why a school bus has 10 lugs, whereas the short bus has only 6. As we all know, tards generally weigh 40% less than normal people.

But seriously, weight is generally why a certain lug number is chosen. For most of the early Zs... Nissan saw fit to equip NA 84-85 Z31s with four lugs. They are heavier than earlier Zs, so I'd say that weight isn't a good reason to swap over. The second consideration is wheels. 5 bolt are easier to find, especially in a zero offset. But I've seen plenty of 4 lug wheels that would fit, so that might not be enough reason. The third reason I can think of is the brakes. There are alot of cars with a 5x114.5 bolt pattern, such as the Z32. So there are plenty of upgrade options available.
