My next door neighbor and buddy both of Ram trucks that had oil pumps go out on them and cause engine damage. Sludge was the contributing factor. One was serviced by the Dodge Dealership. The dealership would not honor the failure under warranty and my next door neighbor threatened to drive the truck through the show room glass after informing them of how many Dodges were sold to his family from the dealership.

It is clear to me these engines are extremely hard on oil due to a design flaw (hot spot).

But I think regular changes at regular intervals with the german castrol or Mobil1 10w-30 should nullify this danger (in summer use thicker than this).Redline and AMSOIL oils should also help guard against this problem.

Exactly!

One of the weakest recommendations of them all.

Man, what bs. I can't believe that after so many of the same complaints that Dodge doesn't do something about it.

Kinda reminds me of the part in Fight Club when Tyler was talking about how one of the big car companies decides if a flaw needs a recall based on potential cost to them through lawsuits.

every truck will develop transmission problems if they are used to tow like they should be.

I hope this doesn't carry over to the 5.2s. I have a '95 Dakota that I just bought $300 in parts for.

Anyone read the FSM for one of these? Total night and day difference with the Nissan manuals. The Dakota manual is written like it assume the owner doesn't know anything about cars. Kinda nice in some ways, but way too repetitive.
