I live in NYC. so some winters i could get a lot. some could be very little. I know i could always put some good snow tires on the G if neccessary. The maxima just seems like a better deal because of being stick, in good condition and some even have a few light extras such as springs, intakes, subwoofers etc. all for a price that would rival a stock 03 g sedan.PapaSmurf2k3 wrote:Not sure how much snow you encounter, but I'd probably just hold out to save for the G, or find a better deal on one.
Im coming from RWD too. I was driving an auto fr-s and i didnt mind the auto. but i was always in manual mode, and it was rather good. but inknow the g wont be nearly as good as the frs was( frs wasnt officialy mine, but i was basically using it as a daily for almost 2 years) So i am already used to rwd and i can appreciate a good handling car. Which is why im leaning towards a g. I knownit wont drive nearly as amazing as the Fr-s did. but Im sure it is still a great handling car. The maxima just seems like the better value upfront. I can get a 5.5 gen 6speed for about 3200, and a really nice one for 4k. so its 4k for a auto and stock g35 sedan which is rwd and great handling vs 3.2-4k for a 6 speed maxima that should be faster in a straight line and some extras. thanks for the input btwBubba1 wrote:I agree with Papasmurf, I'd wait and find a better deal on a manual G and go with snow tires before a FWD Maxima. I'm a fellow RWD guy. They're certainly out there, though keep in mind, with NYC traffic, having an automatic is not considered that awful a thing.
No i havent driven one yet. And yeah I am afraid the auto just wont do me any justice. the auto on the frs was fantastic but i know this wont be the case in the G so i know i will definitley want a manual. But its either 6spd fwd car that i would need to add a rsb springs and struts just to tighten the handling and then i have to figure out a way to mitigate the torque steer Or get a g35 auto Or just end up waiting longer than i planned for a manualfloat_6969 wrote:Have you driven the G35 yet? A friend of mine that's on this forum (SN is Looneybomber) is selling his G35 after having owned it for only a short time. He loved the car, but the automatic transmission in them can be sluggish and tends to be reluctant to downshift.
