I purchased HS headers last year when they were going for $300. I finally got around to installing them this saturday. I bought a VAFC2 and its installed, just not tuned yet. Right now the car seems a bit sluggish, Im guessing b/c its not tuned yet.

Here is my concern:

- I wont be able to get the car tuned for another 3 months or so and Im scared Im running rich. My friend installed the vafc 2 and I totally forgot what he set the crossover point at. But to be sure the car does not run that rich I keep rpms at 2-2.5k when I shift. From what I researched most maximas run rich at higher rpms. So by shifting at 2k or so will I somewhat prevent the extra carbon deposits from running rich? My MPG actually got .1 better since the headers were installed (shifting at 2k) so I dont think Im running that rich at that specific rpm.

My other mods are megan racing catback and test pipe. Stock intake.

Is it possible that your improved fuel economy is from the low rpm shifting and not the headers?

You should be fine until you get the car tuned. After I did the test headers for Cattman and did the test dyno my a/f was all over the place. In the end i was running rich and I still am. I havent had time to tune it better. You can get pretty lean with these engines but just make sure you have a nice a/f line when you dyno.
