5.4 Triton into an s13

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Has anyone ever even thought about it? I have one out of an 05 lariat F150. It only has 45k miles and ran like a scalded dog in a crew cab truck. I figure this would be very different from anything else I have ever seen. But the only downside is that a, its still a ford, b, its lacking the ecu, trans, and harness.

and the ford mod motors are ultra wide.

Really though, if the engine would fit, just put a t45 transmission behind it and use megasquirt to run the engine.

Very true, this thing is like 2.5 ka's wide. I'll probably just sell the thing and use it to help fund a ls3.

Well, the fact that you're spreading misinformation doesn't help anybody. The 5.4 triton v8 is part of the ford "mod" motor family of engines. Mod meaning modular. the 4.6 and 5.4 v8 engines from ford are modular, meaning, they are like lego's. Mostly, anything from engine A will bolt to engine B. It's not a big block. Ford doesn't put a "big block" into anything anymore. They haven't since 1998ish. The 6.8L (not a big block) is a v-10 engine, and still, technically part of the mod motor family, as it has the same architecture.

I'm trying to put a 4v aluminum 4.6 in an s13, it fits barely. Exhaust pretty much squeezes in the frame rails and heads just fit between the strut towers. I think you'll have a tough time making stuff fit on the dimensionally larger 5.4 engine.

if you could fit the 5.4 in there, strap some cobra or lincoln dual cam heads to it and top it off with a blower or a couple of snails. it'll be like having a ford gt powerplant in there.

plus the navi heads work better than the b heads on a 5.4. also if you run the b heads on a 5.4 you are pretty much stuck paying WAY to much for an mmr intake. however at least it braces the valley to keep the block from splitting i'm still toying with the idea.

Don't know what laws are like where you live but in cali you can not put a truck motor in to a car legally. any engine/trans package from a car can be done as long it is the same year as or newer than the chassis it is going into. the vehicle classification of a car vs. truck is the problem.

sounds like a fun set up though.
