I recently bought some surround sound speakers for my laptop and didnt realize that I didnt have the correct audio hookups to get the surround sound. The system has analog, optical and coax hookups. If a buy something like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...01151

will that external usb card give me the surround sound capability? The laptop also has an SPDIF jack, will that allow me to just get an adapter:

http://www.amazon.com/TOSLINK-...m_e_2

or this:

http://www.amazon.com/StarTech...NTMC0

I hope this all makes sense, I'm not to knowledgable about computers or sound system stuff. Thanks for any help

If your computer has a coax SPDIF output and your receiver has a digital coax input and decoder, you should be fine without needing a converter. Just get an RCA to RCA cord and you're set.
