4x4 light question ???????

this is my first qx4 and i have a probably stupid question...if im driving in 2wd there are no lights on in the dash of the 4 wheels,(it looks like the bottom 2 wheels should light up,,but they dont) they if i put the switch to auto the top 2 lights go on,then if i switch to lock the top 2 lights go on and like a orange light comes on in the middle...truck drives perfect 2wd drives good..4wd works...4wd low works good too..everything works fine...i took out the dash to see if the bulb was blown but it looks like you cant change the bulbs on that....so my question is do the bottom lights stay on while your in 2wd and if yes any ideas why mine are not and what can i do?....thanks

seeing how a pathfinder and qx4 are basically twins, im gonna assume this falls under the interchangeable catergory. my '02 pathfinder doesnt have the light, but an '01 that i test drove did and it wasnt on whatsoever when i was in 2wd, but all 4 wheels lit green when i put it in 4w high.

yeah the bottom two should always be on, good luck on the repair, i've never opened up the gauge cluster on my qx4 but i imagine it being a very small bulb or LED.... check the dealership for that bulb - i know Infiniti makes a few specialty bulbs which can not be purchased elsewhere - like the map lights in the overhead console for example

I checked mine. The rear two wheels' light is always on no matter where the switch is turned at.

Nissan manufactures their own bulbs? Crap. How much do those run?

If they ever burn out, I just might have to yank it and solder some new sockets for cheap bulbs.

ahh, lesson learned. apparently if you have a 4x4 knob on the dash, the back 2 always stay lit. if you have a manual shift lever for the 4x4, nothing lights up when in 2wd.

I was gonna say that the bottom two are always lit on my 99.5 (which has the knob not a shifter) but i just noticed that he has a 97...and on that note, 97QXFOUR i see your from the Bronx...where at?

Whoa I see my av, lolactually with the standard 4wd shift (pre 99.5 qx4), the back should light up unless you shift it into neutral (the 4wd, not the transmission).

They should be lit all the time (unless the thing is off :o )

HAH Hicksville...that's like 10 min from me! My boy used to live in the Bronx for a while...i'm not sure where at. But we're around there sometimes...so on that note what color is the QX?

its like that mud green color..its all one color not the 2 tone...its all stock for now..just 5% tints all around and a double din tv/dvd/cd and amp and box...i want to throw some double deuces on there already...what part of li are you from?
