Which 4wd system do you have? If it's the automatic version, feel free to leave it in that position as long as you like. Fuel economy will suffer slightly, but it won't hurt anything. The locked in 4wd modes cannot be used in conditions with high traction (dry pavement, for example), but can be used any time there is snow/ice on the road surface. You can drive in 4 Hi at any speed that is safe for the conditions. If you were planning to run fast enough to potentially cause mechanical problems (interstate speeds, for example), you probably wouldn't need 4wd anyway.

hEY THANKS FASTPAKR!!!

I have the stick shift ....was thinking if I stay at work till 5pm today the snow would have accumulated...its fine though coz I see ALOT of SNOW TRUCKS plowing the snow away...can see it from my window...and they look like they will be doing it all day...JUST THAT Im expecting the worst and might have to play safe and be 4x4 all the way home...to be safe!

so its safe to be in 50-60mph in 4 HI ?

The owner's manual says that 4Hi should only be used at speeds under 50 mph, or else you could damage the system. Of course, if the conditions are severe enough to have to use 4Hi, then you probably shouldn't be driving faster than that anyways. ;)

Edit: Whoops, just saw you have the 5 speed. Not sure if the top speed for the automatics still applies to manuals.
