4x2 to 4x4?

yeah i know its gotta be a real pain to do, but what would need to be done to do it for an 06 frontier

If you want to convert it to a stockish 4x4, there have been guys that have done it on the Gen 1 frontiers and Xterras. All of them will tell you if they were to do it again, they'd just sell the 2wd and get a 4x4. It's cheaper in the long run.

IMO, it's only worth it if you're going to go nuts and build a big, solid axle beast right from the start.

Things you'd need to go stock:

Transfer caseTransmission from a 4x4Front axleFront Driveshaft4x4 knucklesHalfshafts and various fittingspossibly different crossmembers (I'm not as familiar with Gen 2's as I am with Gen 1's.4wd shifter knob and wiring harnessPossibly a different oil pan and oil pump pickupnew shorter rear driveshaft

+1 on that. If you want it anywhere close to stock, the best answer is get a new truck.
