It depends on where you live. Do you get snow at all or drive to places where snow is or live near mountains? If not, then it may not be worth it to you. I have the 4WD on mine and bought it with 4WD b/c I lived in the northern Illinois where it snows quite a bit. I only used it when we had a heavy snow, though (not light stuff) and it works great. The selection dial for putting it in 4WD is way better than those old school shifters like they have in older model SUVs (Toyota Landcruisers, 4Runners, etc.). I never used it in heavy rain and you likely won't either (you don't need to). I live in Southern CA now and never use 4WD. However, I will be taking it into the mountains on occaison and I may have use for it then but otherwise, I don't utilize it. You have to think of not only the upfront cost of getting the 4WD version but also the maintenance of a 4WD vehicle, such as another differential to service, a transfer case to service, and increased wear on tires.
But to be honest, I love the security of knowing I have power at all wheels if I ever need it. As well, the resale/desirability of a 4WD QX56 is greater than just the typical 2WD.
