Alright, I've been having issues with my 4WD lately and can't figure it out. I've searched all over the net but havne't been able to find any answers. Hopefully someone here can help.
Quite a while ago I put my QX4 (2001) into 4LO and since then I've been having problems. My 4WD indicator lamp is constantly on and I seem to have lost the AUTO option as well. I can place my truck into 2WD however the wheel indicator lights are just blank for all 4 tires. If I turn the know into AUTO, it seems to lock into 4HI. It beeps like its going in to AUTO, however the wheel indicator lights on the gauge cluster shows all 4 wheels green with the orange lock in the middle. If I turn the knob to 4HI, no beep from the truck and no change in the wheel indicator lights on the gauge cluster.
At the same time, there is occassionally a loud clunking sound when switching from 4HI (AUTO) into 2WD and it sometimes feel like it's grinding when driving in 4HI (AUTO). Also the turning ability seems to cause a grinding sensation as well.
I've tried over and over to place the QX4 into 4WD diagnostic mode to see what the 4WD flashing would indicate is wrong, however it won't go into it. I followed the procedure that I found online (on, off, on, off, A/T selector into P, 4WD know into AUTO, etc...) however nothing happens at the end of the sequence and the 4WD indicator lamp stays on. I have brought it to my mechanic (not an Infinity dealer) and he was unable to get it into 4WD diagnostics either.
Anyone experienced this, have any ideas or knows another way to get into 4WD diagnostics?
