 A while back I swapped out the bulbs in the 4wd switcher in my '03 LE and ever since then my 4WD light has been on and my 4WD wouldn't engage but car drove properly. Many months passed by and I forgot about the light but recently I found time to get it looked at and bit the bullet and sent it to Nissan, log story short, they don't know what's wrong either and want to charge me an additional $140 to try and diagnose what's wrong. The mechanic was trying to tell me to sell the car because it's possibly an electrical issue.
If anyone has insight on this and could help point me in the right direction, I'd be greatly appreciated. Kind of at a loss right now

If you say that the problem began immediately after you "switched out bulbs" then it would follow that you should focus on what changed in the related lighting circuit. For example, when you switched out bulbs, did you change to a completely different type of bulb with different voltage rating?

Last February you posted questions about issues you were having when replacing instrument cluster light bulbs with LED type lights. When you swapped out the bulbs in the 4WD shift switch, did you replace them with LED type lights?

I finally got the chance to work on it today and I went out to the junkyard and got another 4WD switcher and voila! I plugged it in and the 4WD light doesn't turn on when i switch from 2wd to auto to 4HI. I'm assuming the 2WD section of the actual 4wd swticher shorted when I put in LEDs and threw a signal to the computer everytime i switched it to 2wd. I'm still skeptical if my 4WD actually engages or not, gotta test it out this weekend!
