is there any difference in a 1997 4wd 4cylinder engine and a 1997 2wd 4 cylinder engine? trying to find an engine for a 1997 4wd 4 cylinder with a 5 speed. I have found a 97 2wd engine, someone said the oil pans may need to change along with the strainer or something like that. what is the average price on a used engine that is supposed to be in good shape. ka2400e

The oil pans are different indeed as long as the pickup tube which is what sucks up the oil form the oil pan. peace.

I've done this swap on a '98 with the KA24DE. Only the pans and pickup are different, and they swap directly over.

Flywheels are different between auto and manual equipped trucks - the donor motor I got was from a 2000 2wd auto, and I had to swap the fly wheels over too.
