OK, guys, I can predict how this vote will turn out, but I'm just curious anyhow. BEING HONEST, if price were not an issue, would you request 4WAS for your G37?

Although it's not my driving style to "swing out the rear", I still don't want the 4WAS option.

If you read test reports, you will see that the reviewers prefer the non-4WAS version when they can drive both, rate the car higher if it does not have 4WAS, and rate it lower if it does. Reviewer Dan Edmunds expressed it best after driving both versions at Barber Motorsports Park. About the non-4WAS version he wrote, "We were able to balance the car on our preferred line at thrilling speeds — and do so lap after lap." In contrast, "It all went pear-shaped in a 4WAS-equipped G37. This car didn't turn into corners with the same predictability and it wasn't as easy to hold our line, plus we always had the unnerving feeling that the system was second-guessing not only us but itself."

I personally wouldn't get 4WAS in my car. It seems as though most people really don't like it. To me, as a casual driver and not a person who goes to a race track, having no 4WAS isn't going to do anything to my driving.

I personally opted out 4WAS on my order due to the various reviews I've read.

Hey, everyone,

Thanks for the feedback. Here's an interesting link on Nissan's web site demonstrating the purpose of 4WAS.

Hey, I've read various threads stating that 4WAS is driver-defeatable/disable-able when pulling track duty. I wonder if that's an on/off switch (like ESC) or something where you have to pull breakers. Anyone know?

Hey, guys,

Here's the most positive spin I've seen yet on 4WAS. Again, I'm just trying to present arguments for both sides, especially since there is such a strong anti-4WAS perception. (Interestingly, only Sports can get this dreaded option.)

http://blog.vehiclevoice.com/2...#more

and I quote...

"Does 4WAS, in Infiniti speak, work? Is it worth the cost? After twenty miles of curves, we say yes and yes. The system is subtle and responsive. Diving into corners and twists can be done with a supreme confidence, and with it you could gain speeding tickets quickly.

"4WAS: An Odd Acronym Indicates A Lively Chassis SetupOrdering 4WAS gets a specific chassis configuration with variable front steering ratios and adjusts bushings and rear suspension geometry based on steering input and vehicle sensors. It is a seamless system that enables the car to respond quicker, faster, and turns it into a point-and-shoot operation. By comparison, the standard setup is heavier and less quick to respond to input. With the basic front-wheel steer and the Sport suspension, the car is a pleasant driver. For straight-line kind of geography or for a less aggressive driving style, skipping the 4WAS leaves you with a comfortable cruiser with an edgy personality and willing spirit..."

Nice info KinsmanRedeemer! As a casual driver with no intention of seeing any time on the track, I opted for the 4was package. It seems ideally suited for weaving and dodging on the freeway, which is the predominant driving style down where I live. Nissan's own video was particularly comforting - I guess we'll have to see how it measures up in real life.

Yeah thanks for the info! That was my biggest concern about 4WAS. Since it has a specific chassis as that is different as you have quoted, aftermarket potential for 4WAS models will be greatly reduced as I have heard from other forum members.
