I'm looking at buying a '16 Quest certified pre-owned. I get mixed information online about reliability. Consumer Reports doesn't have enough data to give a verdict.

I have usually heard good things about Nissans in general. Any advice? Thanks!

I've owned 4 minivans at this point. Started with a used 2001 Ford Windstar, then a new 2007 Honda Odyssey, new 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan and now my 2016 Quest SV that I bought certified used. I liked them all, however I find the seating and comfort of the Quest to be best so far. It has a very high roof line, giving a good bit of interior space. The odd thing about the quest is there is zero in-floor storage, the center seats do not fold into the floor or come out easily, nor does the third row fold/tumble into the floor. All the rear seating does fold somewhat flat and the high roofline makes up for the loss of space of not having a stow and go type option.

I also really enjoy the powertrain of the Quest. It's quite powerful. About the same as our Grand Caravan and Odyssey. The CVT transmission makes it a lot smoother than those though.

Mj, how has the replacement CVT held up in your 2011? Just curious if you still had the van and how it was doing.

FWIW, I'm about to drive a Quest load from Buffalo to Florida and back fairly soon. We're currently at ~52K miles with our 2016 Quest. I'd like to do another CVT spill n fill on it before we go. I still have 4qts of NS-3 blue juice sitting around.

I got the remanufacrured cvt in and so far all good. I don't put so many miles on it nowadays since my wife just got a new Qx60. I think we added 4K miles since the replacement. I am still nervous about the longevity of the 'new' transmission. But we kinda decided that the van will be our work vehicle and we only use it if the QX can't accommodate all our crap (camping trips etc....)

My wife really liked the Qx but considering it has the same CVT I told her to lease it instead of buying. I think I'm scarred for life after our Quest cvt failure. Although I do believe I bear part of the responsibility for not having it flushed appropriately.

Anyway. Since we owned it we took many long trips. Several from Va to the Keys.
I am not sure if the cvt issue is generally an issue or only when the fluid isn't changing often. I did read about the replacement cvts failing within 2 years in muranos, so I am not convinced all issues are resolved.

I wish you good luck and many miles to come....
