4th gear not engaging -tranny

got this 1993 j30 the was sitting for a long time(maybe a couple years), drove for a couple weeks fine, but few days ago while driving on the freeway around 70 the car started to hesitate after that i notice that everytime i go over 60mph the rpm will go higher than 3000rpm, which never done that in the past. seems like its not shifting to 4th gear but lower gear drives fine except for a little kick on 1st to 2dn. I felt the transmision gear inside the car and it gets hot. smelled the trans oil and does not smell like burned, does anyone knows what the problem, do i need to add transm oil? thanks.

The problem you describe leads me to believe you need a new revolution sensor for your transmission. Its a common age related problem.
